Qld Cooling & Heating Concession

2010 June 9: The Queensland Government Department of Communities announced a Medical Cooling and Heating Electricity Concession Scheme.

Qualifying conditions are onerous, but some ME/CFS/FM sufferers might qualify for this concession.

Events

2010 September 14: Geoffrey Hallmann organised lectures in Brisbane by the Canadian ME/CFS authority Dr. Byron Hyde during his visit to Australia - a lecture for the medical fraternity, and a public lecture. Lyn Wilson assisted in the presentation of these lectures.

2010 May 10: The Mayoral Launch of International ME/CFS/FM Awareness Week was hosted at City Hall, Toowoomba by Mayor of Toowoomba Regional Council, Peter Taylor; and was attended by Member for Toowoomba North, Kerry Shine, representing the premier, Anna Bligh. Also attending were representatives of Centrelink and Health Consumers Queensland, TRC councillors, and a number of sufferers and carers. Addresses were given by Kerry Shine, Lyn Wilson and Peter Taylor; introduced by Councillor Carol Taylor.

Fundraising Activities

2009 October 3: Charity Ball
A charity ball, organised by Rhonda McInnes, was held at City Golf Club, Toowoomba. Entertainment was provided by the band "Rheanna & Barely Legal". A multi-draw raffle was drawn on the night.

2007 May 12 : Celebrity Charity Auction
This event, organised by Lyn Wilson and Rhonda McInnes, was held at Toowoomba Golf Club. Items donated by national and international celebrities were auctioned, and raffles were drawn on the night.

2012 June 5: Lyn Wilson participated in a Federal Government Workshop For Service Providers entitled "Consultation on the Draft National Standards for Disability Services" - in Toowoomba.

2012 March 16: Lyn Wilson attended the 2012 Health Professional Seminar in Brisbane, hosted by Arthritis Queensland, titled "What's New in Arthritis and Osteoporosis & What's Next?". Attended seminar and manned a Fibromyalgia information stand.

2011 December 1: Lyn Wilson attended an HCQ Consumer Representative Workshop in Brisbane, for consumer representatives sitting on committees, working groups, advisory bodies and clinical networks; and providing input into health policy, planning, service provision and evaluation.

2011 October 17: Lyn Wilson, at the invitation of Qld. Health Ipswich, gave an Awareness Talk to Laidley Woman's Group.

2011 October 12: Lyn Wilson attended a QCOSS meeting in Toowoomba.

2011 October 4: Lyn Wilson met with Lillian van Litsenburg MP, in regard to raising the group's profile.

2011 September 29: Lyn Wilson attended a meeting of the Qld Medical Cooling Rebate Alliance, hosted by the Spinal Injuries Ass'n, liaising with the MS Society and other members.

2011 September 14: Lyn Wilson, at the invitation of Qld. Health Ipswich, gave an Awareness Talk to Toogoolawah Woman's Group.

2011 July 19: Lyn Wilson, at the invitation of Qld. Health Ipswich, gave an Awareness Talk to Lowood Woman's Group.

2011 June 1: Lyn Wilson attended the Launch of HCQ's Advocacy Framework and Advocacy Toolkit - at Parliament House in Brisbane.

2011 May 31: Lyn Wilson participated in an HCQ meeting in Brisbane regarding the implementation of the Pain Strategy.

2011 April 12: Lyn Wilson, at the invitation of Qld. Health, gave an Awareness Talk to Boonah Women's Health Group - at Boonah.

2010 October 21: Lyn Wilson particated in HCQ's Consumer Consultation Workshop on National Safety and Healthcare Standards.

2010 October 8: Lyn Wilson, upon invitation, attended a discussion at Toowoomba Hospital by the Director-General of Queensland Health on the future of the national health reform agenda in Queensland.

2010 September 29: All committee members attended a presentation at CEDAR Centre, Toowoomba, of results of research by Dr Sonya Marshall's team into a diagnostic marker for ME/CFS. Results of the first round of blood tests were handed to attending test participants, and initial findings of the research were presented. Most of the committee are participants in this research.

2010 September 27: Lyn Wilson gave an Awareness talk for TRUST (stroke survivors) at Toowoomba Base Hospital.

2010 September 7: Lyn Wilson attended the Toowoomba forum of the 2010 Shared Visions regional forums to provide feedback on the draft 10-Year Plan for Supporting Queenslanders with a Disability.

2010 July 19: Lyn Wilson participated in a follow-up HCQ workshop to conduct usability testing of the draft Advocacy Toolkit.

2010 May 25: Lyn Wilson participated in a small focus group of health consumers working with HCQ in relation to a Health Advocacy Toolkit - Brisbane.

2010 May 11: Lyn Wilson attended the Queensland Compact Intersectoral Forum - Toowoomba (Highfields).

2010 April 14: Lyn Wilson, at the invition of the Australian Pain Management Association, attended the official launch of "Pain Link", a telephone helpline service for people living with chronic pain and their families. The Queensland Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Murray Watt MP, launched the service at Parliament House.

2010 April 8: Lyn Wilson attended a Consumer Information Session in Brisbane, co-hosted by HCQ and CHF, to discuss the Federal Government's proposed National Health and Hospitals Network with the Hon. Mark Butler MP, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Health.

2010 March 9-10: Lyn Wilson attended the CHF workshop "Chronic Conditions Self-Management Project" in Canberra.
